Our 7th annual Auction for Action took place last Saturday evening (May 5th). And in spite of other “competing” events for people’s time and attention (Kentucky Derby, Cinquo de Mayo), we had a great event.
Feedback was that the food might have been the best ever: Salteado, Mojo Pork, Plantanos, Black beans & white rice, Spanish salad, and more. Our bartender (Richard) informed us that he wants to be there next year. Valerie Gillespie, who provided the jazz music with her band, stepped up and said that they already have this event in their calendar for 2013. Nearly 60 auction items were available for bidding, such as fishing / kayak / golf outings, B&B & Condo stays, local artisans (paintings, quilts, stained glass & jewelry), and so much more. Here is a quote from one of our members:
Just walking in last night I noticed that registration was easier, the registration team cool/calm/ smiling….the Auction room beautifully decorated with flowers & balloons…the appetizers & desserts better than EVER…the dinner food hot & delicious….Valeries’ ensemble setting a perfect mood and so much more. Our guests and we were chatting it up, enjoying it all. Guests drifted in at varied times and eventually filled most of the room. The sharings, intro and talks were just enough, inspiring and enjoyable. And check out has NEVER been easier or more orderly. Impressive! you can also tell the Lord must be working through us when guests ask to be part of working on the Auction! I was at home praying—I KNEW the Lord was working & it was going to turn out well! And He sure was!!!
